What is On the Job Training?

On the Job Training (OJT) is customized job related training provided by an employer. The training is designed to increase the job skills of participants by providing them with work experience  specific to a chosen occupation.

Employers agree to hire and train participants in full-time positions as well  as retain them following successful  completion of training.

The goal of the OJT program is to place participants in occupations that will enhance their prospects for long-term employment that will lead to  self-sufficiency.

Who can become an OJT employer?

Any non-seasonal company or business that is willing to provide work related  training to our clients that will lead to a permanent position.

How can my company become involved in the OJT program and access training funds?

An OJT specialist will meet with you at your place of business to discuss your  staffing needs and the positions for which you are seeking OJT  funding.

How can the OJT program help my company?

Catholic Charities Refugee  Employment Services will reimburse your company 50% of the new employee’s wages during the training period.  Training periods can be up to twelve weeks and are negotiated prior to placement and are based upon the level of training and the starting wage per hour.
